Winner Announced in 20-Foot Long Cake Contest!

The Publick House is pleased to announce the winner of our 20 foot long anniversary cake.

On October 17, 2009, The Publick House displayed a 20 foot long cake that was baked right here in the bakery at the Publick House. Individuals were given a chance to guess how many eggs and how many pounds of sugar were used in making the cake. The winner with the closest guest was Rick Smith. Congratulations to Rick with his guess of 275 eggs and 135 lbs of sugar. Rick has won dinner for four at the Publick House. The correct answer was: 288 eggs and 135 lbs of sugar. Rick’s guess was one of over 500 entered.

In the end the cake was cut and given free to over 1,000 people throughout the afternoon. A donation bucket was provided for those who chose to donate money to the Sturbridge Federated Church Ministry. In the end, over $500 was raised and will be given to the ministry for various projects.

Thank you to all who attended the 20th annual Harvest Festival at The Publick House Historic Inn. We can't wait to see you all again next year!!
